Weave: An Architecture for Tailoring Urban Sensing Applications across Multiple Sensor Fabrics
نویسندگان
چکیده
A characteristic of urban sensing is that applications need to compose the operations and fuse information from sensing fabrics extant in the environment, to meet requirements for which the fabrics were not designed a priori. We propose an architecture, WEAVE, that allows tailoring of applications across one or more urban sensing fabrics. Key to the architecture is use of standard application programming interfaces (including vertical or domain dependent ones). We propose such interfaces for sensing fabrics that support the class of search applications, and show how these interfaces are used to compose example applications in operation scenarios that we have implemented at the Ohio State University.

From Kansei to KanseiGenie: Architecture of Federated, Programmable Wireless Sensor Fabrics
This paper deals with challenges in federating wireless sensing fabrics. Federations of this sort are currently being developed in next generation global end-to-end experimentation infrastructures, such as GENI, to support rapid prototyping and hi-fidelity validation of protocols and applications. On one hand, federation should support access to diverse (and potentially provider-specific) wirel...
متن کاملHuman Sensing Network Architecture and Challenges in Smart Cities
Crowdsensing, people tracking and urban space utilization are critical tasks for understanding human behavior in smart cities. Human sensing applications provide valuable feedback to the urban developers and architects to optimize public facilities and re-invent spaces. In this chapter, a Renewable Wireless Sensor Network (RWSN) architecture for human sensing is presented to study the spatial a...

متن کاملKanseiGenie: Software infrastructure for resource management and programmability of wireless sensor network fabrics
This chapter describes an architecture for slicing, virtualizing, and federating wireless sensor network (WSN) resources. The architecture, which we call KanseiGenie, allows users—be they sensing/networking researchers or application developers—to specify and acquire node and network resources as well as sensor data resources within one or more facilities for launching their programs. It also i...
